16-17 March 2017, Brussels
Venue place: BERLAYMONT building, Schuman meeting room
The Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) is pleased to invite you to a research result presentation workshop that will bring together representatives of FP7 and H2020 research projects funded under the safety, security and environment subjects. It will bring together representatives from various European Commission DGs and stakeholders from EU Member States. The workshop will take place in Brussels on 16-17 March 2017.
Representatives of 14 projects that focus on geophysical hazards, cascade effects and extreme weather will present how their results can be used in practice, collect feedback from participants and propose common recommendations for the follow-up as well as for the implementation of European policies in the areas of disaster risk reduction, critical infrastructure protection and societal resilience.
The workshop will provide an inter-disciplinary forum for researchers, European and national policy-makers and risk management authorities, as well as owners/managers of critical infrastructures to review the current state of knowledge and the needs of different stakeholders. Furthermore, it will showcase the most recent scientific and technical developments that may be deployed in practice for the protection of critical infrastructures against geophysical and hydro-meteorological hazards and for the case of cascading effects. Common policy recommendations from the scientific community are among the principal outcomes expected from the workshop. The round-table discussions will also identify knowledge gaps and research needs for increased resilience of infrastructures and societies.
The draft agenda can be found here. Seating is limited to the first registered 100 participants. Should you not be able to attend and need to cancel, please inform well in advance in order to allow other participants to register.
